50 great date locations in London: Part one



Love him or loathe him, eccentric Mayor of London Boris Johnson turns 50 today (June 19). To mark the milestone, over the next 5 days we’ll provide 50 top places to visit/things to do in our cracking capital. 1. Mango Room, Camden


The swanky Caribbean restaurant in north London provides an array of tasty and elegantly presented dishes in a relaxed and intimate setting.



2. Sea Life London Aquarium, Westminster


If underwater creatures are your thing, this is a perfect location with the aquarium housing one of Europe’s largest collections of global marine life from sharks, to stingray and much more.



3. Westfield, Stratford


The popular east London shopping centre is jam packed with an array of stores from jewelers to retail outlets – should you want to treat your date to a gift – as well as a host of restaurants, a Vue cinema, luxury bowling and a casino.



4. London Eye, Westminster


One of the UK’s leading attractions, the giant Ferris wheel situated on the South Bank of the River Thames offers a wonderful view of the capital and is a fantastic idea for date – if you’re not afraid of heights, of course!



5. Madame Tussauds, Baker Street


You might not get to meet the real Beyoncé, Usain Bolt or Barack Obama, but you can get up close and personal with their waxwork figures at the popular London attraction.



6. Southbank Centre, Westminster


The popular arts centre is home to numerous venues including the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall and hosts countless concerts, theatre productions and much more throughout the year. One show to look out for is Love Motown! on July 19, in which Jazz Jamaica All Stars (pictured), singers Noel McKoy and Beverley Skeete and more will perform Motown’s greatest love songs. What better way to get in the mood for love?



7. The Shard, London Bridge


The iconic London venue is the tallest building in Western Europe and boasts world-renowned restaurants, the 5-star Shangri-La hotel and the capital’s highest viewing gallery, The View from The Shard.



8. Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington


If you and your date enjoy art and design, this is a wonderful place to visit. Just so you know ladies, the museum is currently hosting an exhibition entitled Wedding Dresses 1775 – 2014, examining the development of the bridal gown. 9. The O2, Greenwich
